We all know what a chicken is, but here I drew a very colorful breed. By layering many colors, you’ll get a deeply varied pattern. It’s easiest to start by drawing the cockscomb and the beak.
Species order and family:Galliformes, Phasianidae
Size: male: 2.3 ft (70 cm) • female: 1.7 ft (50 cm)
Domesticated in warm and cold climates, chickens often appear in picture books all over the world.

Colored pencils used for chicken
Start by drawing the cockscomb in bright red and then the beak in deep yellow.
Next, use black to draw the eye. With your gold pencil, create the face and neck, and then from the top, use reddish orange to quickly layer color in the direction of the wing.
Sketch the shape of the chest, undertail, and thighs in brown, coloring in as you go along. Follow in the direction that the wing would go.
Color in various parts of the body with dark mauve, dark purple, and reddish orange. Using navy blue, draw the tail.
Still with the navy blue pencil, color in the chest, thighs, and the lower part of the wings. Moving down, draw the feet in deep yellow and use black for the claws.
Go back over everything, layering the colors. In the dark blue parts, layer with peacock green to give them a rich hue.
