CHAPTER 7

Conclusion

What I have tried to do in this book is to articulate and provide tools to the designer of assistive technology, and other appropriate design domains, so that you can implement and expand them. One interesting thing about this set is the heterogeneity of their provenance. As a result, some of the source texts come from divergent viewpoints and those new to them may find them difficult to digest. To mitigate this I have tried, in several areas, to give detailed examples of how they may be used.

Stretching is good, as an example both Meta Design and Distributed Cognition were hard for me to initially digest, but the effort has enriched my “toolkit,” and this motivated me to write this book. Creating applications for people with disabilities is not a trivial or obvious task; there is a lot to learn, and I hope that this book and the others in the series provide useful guidance and spark for you in your work.
