Wrapping Up

Using some simple mineral examples, we explored Crystal’s basic constructs and syntax. You got to see the basic types, you learned how to repeat code and control program flow, and you explored some collection types like arrays and hashes. You also learned how to work with methods, classes, and modules, and you converted a Ruby example to Crystal. We finished up with a simple example of how to use fibers. Along the way, you got to see how the compiler guides you toward more robust and safe code.

In Part II, you’ll get much more detail on all of those topics, and see how Crystal combined its design decisions to emphasize performance.
