Building a chatbot with Amazon Lex

Amazon Lex is a fully managed service that uses artificial intelligence and natural language understanding to enable a conversational experience for users. Its text and speech understanding uses the same underlying technology that powers Amazon Alexa, while Amazon Polly provides the functionality for text-to-speech.

In the Lex console, you can configure your inputs in the language model to build your bots and then deploy them to multiple platforms, including mobile applications and social media platforms such as Facebook. Lex scales automatically behind the scenes and can handle many concurrent conversations. What's even better is that, over time, Lex learns how your users are interacting with the bot and can continuously improve the machine learning model to provide a better experience.

We're going to learn about language model concepts that are used by Amazon Lex in order to build, test, and publish a chatbot. Then, we will put our new knowledge into practice and build our own Lex chatbot!

Let's start by understanding the language model.
