We are going to create a simple program and run one of the many open source code analyzers that are available to check for potential issues. Follow these steps:
- Go to the ~/test/returns directory, which we created as part of the previous recipe.
- Install the cppcheck tool from the repository. Make sure you are under the root account, not user:
# apt-get install cppcheck
- Change to the user account again:
# su - user
$
- Run cppcheck against the returns.cpp file:
$ cppcheck --std=posix --enable=warning returns.cpp
- Analyze its output.
