As there are many resources outlining how to install Raspbian onto a Raspberry Pi, we will go over this quickly. We are using the older Raspberry Pi 3/3B+ as Stretch will not install on the newer Raspberry Pi 4.
In order to install Raspbian Stretch, do the following:
- Insert the micro SD card into the bottom of the Raspberry Pi, as demonstrated in the following screenshot:
- Connect a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to the Raspberry Pi.
- Power up the Raspberry Pi by plugging in the Universal Serial Bus (USB) micro power supply.
- Follow the onscreen instructions for installing Stretch onto the Raspberry Pi. Be sure to update the software when prompted to do so.
- Restart the Raspberry Pi if prompted.
Now that Raspbian Stretch is installed on our Raspberry Pi, it's time to install Azure IoT Edge.
