Part III: Enthusiastic Workforces, Motivated by Achievement

Chapter 7 Organization Purpose and Principles

Chapter 8 Job Enablement

Chapter 9 Job Challenge

Chapter 10 Feedback, Recognition, and Reward

The sources of a sense of employee achievement or pride range from the very broad—the very purpose of the organization they work for—to what happens to them day-to-day, such as the conditions that affect their ability to get their jobs done and done well. People want to feel good about what they do and for whom they do it, and, assuming the equity needs are reasonably satisfied, pride is a major driver of performance and commitment.
