Summary

In this chapter, you learned about the fundamental building blocks of the Kotlin language. We covered the basics, like variables, functions, and control flow statements. We also learned about the basic types Kotlin uses and we've seen how Kotlin tries to improve Java's shortcomings with its null safety features.

Now you should be able to start using the language on your own and, if you have experience with other languages (especially Java), you could already see what sets Kotlin apart from them.

In the next chapter, you will learn about classes and object-oriented programming with Kotlin.
