item and choose Open on the next screen. Enter
your email address, click OK, then enter your
Netflix password (case-sensitive). You’ll now be
signed in to Netflix, which will complete with a
confirmation screen.
Click on your Netflix username to get into the
Netflix menu. You’ve arrived! Pick one of the
videos shown and launch it via (double) click. The
first time you do this, you’ll get a notice that this
requires the Widevine content decryption module
or CDM (Figure

). Click on Install Widevine,
then confirm the licensing terms by clicking “I
accept.” (Don’t be surprised that this is a Google
license Widevine is a Google product, taken
here from Google ChromeOS recovery files.)
You’ll get a warning that installing Widevine
requires 3.1GB of storage space (remember
our advice about getting a big memory card?).
Confirm, and prepare for a long wait. Even on
a hefty 150Mbps connection, the download will
take about 3 minutes (Figure

). Unpacking the
completed download will take another couple
minutes.
Once everything is unpacked and installed,
reboot your Pi. You’ll then find Netflix under Add-
ons in the media list (Figure

), ready for your
browsing and viewing pleasure!
Playing copy-protected Netflix videos in Kodi
requires a software decryption module called
Widevine (from Google). Its extracted — slowly
— from a ChromeOS package thats 3GB in size.
Chill time: You’ve got Netflix now!
Congratulations, your Netflix install is complete.

IMPORTANT: Netflix videos are decoded in
software, requiring lots of computing power. This will
make your Raspberry Pi’s CPU break quite a sweat.
A CPU cooler is highly recommended. If you haven’t
installed one yet, you should do so soon.
