making products
for tweens and
teens
The recipes in this section are all for the young ladies in your life. None of the
recipes are all that difficult to make, so why not invite your tween or teen into
the kitchen with you to make these products together? Or host a slumber
party for your daughter’s friends, have everyone help make the products, and
then let them give each other facials, do each other’s makeup, and give each
other manicures!
If you wanted to make everything in this chapter—and chances are your tween
or teen is already asking if you can!—you’d need the following supplies. I listed
each recipes specific supplies list with the recipe.

lip scrub
This fun lip scrub keeps your lips smooth and exfoliated. The mixture needs to be thick and pasty,
so watch for that consistency. You need a scale, a few bowls (one microwave-safe), a spoon, a
microwave, and 2-ounce (56.7-gram) sterile jars. (I did not create this recipe.) Makes 6 ounces
(170.1 grams).
4 oz. (113.4g) white sugar
2 oz. (56.7g) aloe vera butter or your choice
soft butter
.5 oz. (14.2g) sweet almond oil
1
2
tsp. (2.5ml) lip balm flavor oil
1. Set a bowl on the scale, and push the tare button to zero out the weight of the bowl.
Weigh the sugar and put it in a bowl.
2. Set a microwave-safe bowl on the scale, and push the tare button again. Weigh the
butter, and melt it in the microwave in short spurts.
3. Weigh the oil and add it to the melted butter, and stir well.
4. Add the flavor oil to the oil and butter, and stir well.
5. Add the oil mixture to the sugar, and stir. The mixture should look like thick, wet sand.
6. Scoop the scrub mixture into sterile jars.
When you’re ready to use, scoop a small dollop of the scrub out of the jar, wet your lips, and
rub the scrub across your lips several times. Rinse well. You should be able to feel the differ-
ence the lip scrub made at once.

3. When the frosting is very light and fluffy, weigh and add the fragrance and preservative.
Now add the glitter. Whip again until everything is well incorporated.
4. Scoop the frosting into jar(s).

3. Set a bowl on the scale, push the tare button again, and weigh the fragrance oil and
