If you instead prefer to use vCenter Server when working with port groups, you can, but keep in mind that, even though you are working on the vCenter Server, port groups connected to standard virtual switches must be configured on every single ESXi hypervisor.

To create a new port group, perform the following operation:

1. Switch to the Hosts and Clusters view and select the ESXi server you want to configure
2. Switch to the Configure tab
3. Under Networking, select Virtual Switches
4. Click Add Networking and select Virtual Machine Port Group for a Standard Switch, as shown in the following screenshot:

5. Select an existing virtual switch, or you can create a new one directly in the wizard
6. Specify the port group name and VLAN ID
