Whiteboarding with Saros

One of the great features of Saros is that it enables graphical collaboration just as much as it enables textual collaboration. Take for example the Saros whiteboard, which creates a virtual brainstorming space to serve the purpose of a board in an office.

To open the whiteboard, select Window -> Show View from the menu bar. Then select Saros -> Saros Whiteboard from the Open View dialog. A toolbox pane will appear at the bottom of the Eclipse window; it’s like the one in Figure 33, Whiteboarding with Saros except that ours will be empty. The tools include a pencil, basic shapes, lines, and text. These can be used to sketch out ideas as we collaborate with our pair-programming partner.

Because we’re already sharing a session with a buddy, the whiteboard will also be shared. Try it out now. Draw some shapes and lines on the canvas, and watch as they appear on the second computer.
