The destinations that ODS supports can be grouped into two categories: SAS formatted and third-party formatted.
A SAS formatted destination is one that produces output that is controlled and interpreted by SAS. The SAS LISTING destination is a SAS formatted destination, as are the ODS output objects processed in Example 4.3.
A third-party formatted destination is one that enables you to apply styles and markup languages and to print to physical printers using page description languages. Examples of third-party formatted destinations are HTML and PDF.
Table 6.0a lists the ODS destination categories, the destinations that each category includes, and the formatted output that results from each destination.
