An Application to View Countries and their GDP using JHipster

As time has passed, changing business functions have required delivery teams to produce high-quality software products at a rapid pace. To meet this expectation, the IT industry has become focused on making the software development process streamlined and automated. As a result, many new platforms are emerging, with the aim of generating the code to prepare production-ready applications in no time.

We started our journey with a simple application developed in Spring Framework that showed the gross domestic product (GDP) information of various countries with the World Bank API, in Chapter 1, Creating an Application to List World Countries with their GDP. The Spring Framework provides a comprehensive way to develop an enterprise-ready application with ease.

With the birth of Spring Boot framework, development with Spring Framework has become far quicker and smarter than ever before. In subsequent chapters, we moved on to Spring Boot and explored its capabilities, specifically for integration with other Spring and third-party libraries and modules.

In this chapter, we will explore another framework, named JHipster, which is one step ahead in making Spring-based applications with just a few clicks, and makes Spring development joyful. We will utilize JHipster to develop the application from Chapter 1Creating an Application to List World Countries with their GDP, showing the GDP information of various countries and showcasing how the development process is streamlined and automated. We will cover the following interesting topics in this chapter:

  • Introducing JHipster
