About the Authors

Mike Chapple currently serves as Chief Information Officer of Brand Institute, a Miami-based marketing firm. He's passionate about a number of technology issues, including computer/network security and databases. Mike previously worked as an Information Security Researcher with the National Security Agency and the U.S. Air Force. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame and an M.S. in Computer Science (Secure and Trusted Computing) from the University of Idaho. His professional certifications include the TICSA, CISSP, CCSA, GCFW, MCSE, MCDBA, and CCNA credentials.

Debra Littlejohn Shinder, MCSE, is a technology consultant, trainer and writer, and a former police officer/criminal justice instructor. She has written a number of books on computer networking and security, including Computer Networking Essentials, published by Cisco Press. She is co-author, with her husband Dr. Thomas Shinder, of Troubleshooting Windows 2000 TCP/IP and the best-selling Configuring ISA Server 2000, both published by Syngress Media. Her newest book is Scene of the Cybercrime, which combines her IT experience with her ten years of law enforcement experience. She has also written several hundred articles for policing publications, IT magazines, and Web sites, and occasionally travels around the country to deliver presentations and seminars. Shawn Porter lives in Calgary, Canada, with his wife Nicole and has been in the IT industry for 10 years. Shawn has published a variety of works, including articles for Windows 2000 Magazine, The Sun newspaper in Vernon, B.C., and several study guides, including topics such as Exchange 2000, CIW Security Professional, and Server+. Shawn has attained several certifications, including MCSE, A+, CIW, and various hardware certifications. In addition to writing on security topics, Shawn also spends time teaching A+ courseware to aspiring technicians.
