As you read the introduction you were encouraged to take a pre-self-assessment questionnaire to help you assess your skills. Here is the questionnaire again. Having read this book, or part of it, and hopefully put some of the tips into practice, you are invited to retake the questionnaire to help you assess your progress. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, neither were presentation skills learned in a day or from simply reading a book. But using the tools, tips and techniques contained in this book will help you develop effective presentations.
Through completing this questionnaire again you will be able to assess which areas you now enjoy about giving presentations, what now gives you energy and whether you still need to find a way to do certain things more often.
Score yourself on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 indicating a high level of confidence and skill and 1 the lowest.
If your score is between 80 and 100 you’re now very confident at giving presentations and enjoy the limelight. However, be aware that overconfidence may have crept in and you perhaps could prepare your presentations a little more, rather than ‘wing’ them.
If your score is between 50 and 80 there is still room to improve your confidence and ability at presenting, but you have learned a fair amount.
If your score is below 50 you are likely to need a confidence boost as well as improved skills. You might like to go back to read Step 9 on confidence and then return to Step 1 and work your way through the book. Or use the skills matrix above to guide you.
Keep in mind that this is your opinion; you might like to ask your manager, mentor or colleagues to score you as well.
Good luck and happy presenting.
