13. Nominal yield-to-maturity is composed of a real yield and an inflation expectations component (yield-to-maturity = real yield-to-maturity + expected inflation-to-maturity). The nominal government bond yield and the real yield offered by inflation-indexed debt of the same maturity can be used to calculate the expected inflation rate to the maturity, sometimes called the break-even inflation rate.
