Introduction

The final part of Intersection is an introduction into a use of the Enterprise Design framework as part of real world design programs. It is based on extensive experience, applying the different aspects for our work at eda.c for organizations from the very big players to garage-like startups, from various industries, and on a wide range of challenges.

The framework with its twenty aspects is meant to be a guide helping us navigate through a complex space of intermingled concerns. They go beyond the views of traditional design disciplines, considering also things that touch the areas of business decision-makers, engineers, and social scientists. Considering the non-tangible and conceptual aspects makes a design practice strategically relevant, and allows us to make the enterprise’s future visible.

When working on a given problem setting, you will find that some aspects are more applicable then others depending on the challenges we wish to address. The framework is not an instruction manual, so its application has to be adapted to the situation at hand. This part features two chapters. Chapter 9 describes the application of the framework in a design project, detailing each step with some detail. Chapter 10 is about launching a strategic design program in an organization, and making it part of work practice.
