This e-book comes complete with Total Tester customizable practice exam software containing 200 practice exam questions. The Total Tester software can be downloaded and installed on any Windows Vista/7/8/10 computer or can be streamed online without installation.

Images System Requirements

The software requires Windows Vista or higher and 30MB of hard disk space for full installation, in addition to a current or prior major release of Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Safari. To run, the screen resolution must be set to 1024 × 768 or higher. The Total Tester Online is a streamed online version of the software that does not require installation.

Total Tester provides you with a simulation of the CompTIA Security+ SY0-501 exam. Exams can be taken in Practice Mode, Exam Mode, or Custom Mode. Practice Mode provides an assistance window with hints, references to the book, explanations of the correct and incorrect answers, and the option to check your answer as you take the test. Exam Mode provides a simulation of the actual exam. The number of questions, the types of questions, and the time allowed are intended to be an accurate representation of the exam environment. Custom Mode allows you to create custom exams from selected domains or chapters, and you can further customize the number of questions and time allowed. All exams provide an overall grade and a grade broken down by domain.

Note: Total Tester does not provide simulations of the exam’s performance-based question type. For further discussion on this question type, please see the book’s Introduction.

Installing and Running Total Tester for Desktop

To download the Total Tester, simply click the link below and follow the directions for free online registration.

Once you’ve downloaded the Total Tester software, double-click the Setup.exe icon. This will begin the installation process and place an icon on your desktop and in your Start menu. To run Total Tester, navigate to Start | (All) Programs | Total Seminars, or double-click the icon on your desktop. To take a test, launch the program and select “Principles Sec+ 5e” from the Installed Question Packs list. You can then select Practice Mode, Exam Mode, or Custom Mode.

To uninstall the Total Tester software, go to Start | Control Panel | Programs And Features, and then select the Total Tester program. Select Remove, and Windows will completely uninstall the software.

Total Tester Online

The Total Tester Online is a streamed online version of the Total Tester software. To take a test, follow the instructions provided in the next section to register and activate your Total Seminars Training Hub account. When you register, you will be taken to the Total Seminars Training Hub. From the Training Hub Home page, select “Principles of Computer Security 5e Total Tester” from the “Study” dropdown at the top of the page, or from the list of “Products You Own” on the Home page.
