Summary

In this chapter, you have learned to "hack" phpList, both by making minor code edits yourself, using pre-created plugins, or creating standalone files (that is, archive.php) to add additional functionality. You "hacked" phpList to add the following features:

  • Substituting user attributes in the message subject line
  • Sending system messages formatted as HTML instead of plain text
  • Creating a messages archive page
  • Send messages via your e-mail client

In the next chapter, we'll discuss some common issues encountered using phpList and teach you how to troubleshoot and maintain your installation.
