Model Turned Photographer
1907 TO 1977
Lee Miller began her career as a fashion model in New York City in the 1920s after she was discovered on the street by legendary Vogue publisher Condé Nast. But after a while, she grew tired of being in front of a camera and decided to get behind one! She worked with famous artists Man Ray and Picasso in Paris and later became a war correspondent for Vogue in Europe during World War II, photographing major events like the London Blitz and the liberation of Paris.
