Appendix D. GarageBand Shortcuts

This appendix contains some useful GarageBand shortcuts. Command refers to the key just to the left of the spacebar on your computer, which may also be marked with the icon GarageBand Shortcuts or may have an Apple icon.

Opt refers to the Option key (just to the left of the Command key). This may also be marked as Alt. Control refers to the key to the left of the Option key, which may also be marked Ctrl.

Show/hide Arrange Track

Command+B

Show/hide Master Track

Command+Shift+B

Show/hide Podcast track

Command+Opt+B

Show/Hide Movie track

Command+C

Copy a selected region or a selection of notes/events

Command+D

Create a duplicate track (based on the kind of track that is selected)

Command+E

Show/hide Editor (at the bottom of the screen) for audio or MIDI data

Command+F

Display chord in the main display at the bottom of the screen

Command+Shift+F

Display absolute time in the main display at the bottom of the screen

Command+Opt+F

Display bars/beats in the main display at the bottom of the screen

Command+Control+F

Display key/tempo/signature in the main display at the bottom of the screen

Command+G

Snap to Grid (and you then need to choose your grid value)

Show/hide the alignment guide in the timeline as you drag a region

Hide GarageBand

Show/hide the Track Info screen (on the right)

Join selected regions (to make one larger region)
