Part IV provides an approach for planning and performing risk management on a project. Planning for risk management is described in Chapters 14 through 16. Performing risk management is described in Chapters 17 and 18. In each chapter I discuss who is responsible, where to find opportunities, when to take action, and why this is the recommended approach.

Chapter 14, “Establish the Initiative,” contains a checklist of steps to establish risk management on your project. Read Chapter 14 to understand how to respond to project requirements for risk management.

Chapter 15, “Develop the Plan,” defines the strategy used to perform risk management on a project. Read Chapter 15 to be able to develop an effective risk management plan.

Chapter 16, “Tailor the Standard Process,” suggests some modifications to tailor the standard process to your project for a custom fit. Read Chapter 16 to learn how to recommend deviations from the standard process based on the unique aspects of a project.

Chapter 17, “Assess Risk,” describes how to identify and analyze the possibilities in the project plan and remaining work. Read Chapter 17 to understand how to assess risk in a team environment and develop an awareness of the future.

Chapter 18, “Control Risk,” describes how to plan, track, and resolve the risk in the plan and remaining work. Read Chapter 18 to understand how to control risk in a team environment using a creative process.

With the knowledge of how to develop a risk management plan provided in Part IV, you will be ready to implement risk management on your project to help achieve your team’s goals.
