Summary

Through this chapter, we have gained a generic understanding of a typical filesystem, its fabric and design, and what makes it an elemental part of an operating system. This chapter also emphasizes the importance and elegance of abstraction, using the common, layered architecture design which the kernel comprehensively imbibes.
