Configuring the Shooting Menu

(User’s Manual – Page 202)

Press the MENU button on the back of your D7000 to locate the Shooting Menu, which looks like a small green camera in the toolbar on the left side of the Monitor (Figure 3-1).

We’ll now examine each of the settings on the Shooting Menu. Have your camera in hand, and maybe even the User’s Manual if you are interested in what it says about certain settings. Remember that it’s entirely optional to use the User’s Manual. This book is a comprehensive reference, but sometimes I like to get an alternate view. The User’s Manual, although somewhat dense, is still a good reference.

If you take time to think about and configure each of these settings at least once, you’ll learn a lot more about your new camera. There are a lot of settings to learn about, but don’t feel overwhelmed. You’ll get used to them pretty quickly. Some of these settings can be configured and then forgotten, and you’ll use other settings more often. We’ll look at each setting in detail to see which ones are most important to your style of shooting.
