ASSIGNMENT
It’s time to blend in with your environment and practice some stealth photography! Get really close to people in a crowded bus or subway and look for interesting faces, expressions, or gestures.
TECHNIQUE
If possible, make sure to put your camera on silent shutter and use the LCD screen exclusively. The goal is to not attract any attention to yourself, so that people will continue to do whatever caught your eye in the first place. If you have a tilt LCD, now is a good time to use it. If not, you may need to shoot blind, which is not impossible but requires practice. Use burst mode if you’re in a low-light situation or if you are in motion. If you need to bring the camera to your eye, then don’t even try to sneak the shot. Just be open about it. I recommend starting in a crowded situation because you will be less noticeable.
TIP
If your camera has a face detection feature available, use it. This will make shooting blind a lot easier.
