Since the dawn of written history, humans have been enthralled with the remnants of lost and powerful civilizations. Huge and majestic ruins grace the landscape, such as the pyramids of Egypt and Central America or the massive, imposing heads of Easter Island. Past-life readings from the Akashic Record provide insight into these cultures—and equally important, provide insight into soul groups reincarnating today.

Our interest in these civilizations is fueled by more than curiosity alone. According to Edgar Cayce and others, soul groups from Atlantis are reincarnating in large numbers at this time in history. What do they bring to the challenges of today? Are you one of them?

Akashic Record readers such as Cayce, Madame Blavatsky, Dion Fortune, Manly Hall, and Rudolf Steiner provide extensive information about the history and wisdom of ancient lost societies. Akashic Record readers of today, such as Douglas Cottrell and Lyssa Royal, also provide information about these lost lands. According to the readings, Atlantis and Lemuria were the first civilizations in which spiritual beings took physical form. They were the original Earth colonies. While some members maintained their spiritual connection and insight, some were overcome with the lower impulses of being in a physical body. Conflict developed between the two groups. The cultures ascended to great technological heights but destroyed themselves in their conflict. The destruction was initiated by Earth changes culminating in the great flood recorded in the Bible.

Large numbers of soul groups from the last days of Atlantis and Lemuria are said to be reincarnating in this century because of the pivotal nature of these times. We’re poised on the same brink of destruction or enlightenment that existed in these past cultures and today’s conditions provide an opportunity to complete the karmic cycle. Souls reincarnating from Atlantis or Lemuria are working to usher in the paradigm shift underway.

Atlantis

The legend of Atlantis is one of the oldest on the planet and has roots in many cultures. Although attributed to Plato, the legend began with Plato’s hero, the Greek scholar and philosopher Solon. In the life readings of Edgar Cayce, Atlantis is described as a technologically and spiritually advanced nation. It’s claimed the culture flourished between 20,000 and 10,000 years ago, before the continent was destroyed by the misuse of technology.

Some of the advanced technologies in Atlantis included:

• The use of “unknown metals” to create vehicles that traveled in both air and water
• The use of gas, electricity, and “energy rays” to power their vehicles
• Forces from the sun’s rays caught and reflected by crystals as an energy source
• The use of an unknown death-ray

The readings describe the cities of Atlantis as made of highly polished semi-precious and precious gemstones inlaid in marble, granite, and other rock. They used a sophisticated water delivery system, created tiered gardens and beautiful palaces, and powered everything with their advanced crystal energy system.

The downfall of Atlantis, as revealed in Akashic Record life readings, was due to a conflict between the advanced members of the culture and those beings who couldn’t handle the animal impulses inherent in a physical body. It is said that during the conflict, energy produced by the powerful crystals was misdirected, causing massive Earth changes. The destruction took place in three upheavals resulting in mass migrations around the globe. These migrations became the seeds of ancient civilizations and produced the ancient ruins and monuments we see around the world, such as the heads of Easter Island and the pyramids of Egypt.

Lemuria

While accounts of Atlantis are pretty consistent, accounts of Lemuria, also known as Mu, are varied and often at odds with each other. Here’s an amalgamation taken from several sources, including Cayce, Blavatsky, and Lyssa Royal channeling an entity named Germane.

The majority of readers agree that Lemuria existed in the Pacific Ocean 14,000 years ago, concurrently with Atlantis. It was an advanced race that some readers say preceded and seeded the Atlantean culture. They communicated through telepathy and were deeply connected to Earth energy and the sacred power sites on the planet. (Knowledge stored in the earth by the Lemurians is said to be retrievable at sacred sites around the world. The sites raise people’s vibrations, giving them access to the knowledge entrained within.)

The Earth changes initiated by the destruction of Atlantis are said to have caused the great flood mentioned in the Bible. Lemurians telepathically knew destruction was coming and sought to preserve their knowledge by spreading their history to all the people of the world. This is the reason for the prevalence of legends about lost advanced civilizations. The Lemurians survived the flood in underground tunnels and emerged as the first Native Americans after the flood receded.

Madame Blavatsky’s description of Lemuria is different from the majority. She claims Lemuria is much older and was not present at the same time as Atlantis. Blavatsky claims there have been five “root races” in the creation of humans, with each previous race being destroyed prior to the advent of the next.

The Mayans also relate five worlds or ages in the evolution of creation. Each age was a progression of human evolution that ended in destruction of the humans at that time. The last age ended through destruction by water; this one will end through destruction by fire. With the ending of the current age in 2012, we will enter the fifth and golden age. Reconciling Past History

Many of the descriptions of these lost worlds are similar, but many are not. This may be due to the fact that much of the information was obtained through past-life readings. As we discussed in Chapter 2, the personal information imprinted in the Record is based on the perspective of the person being imprinted. Since people don’t share identical experiences and memories, imprints from the same place can give very different information. For example, an Akashic Record reading today of a person living in a Mexican mountain village versus that of someone living in Hollywood, California, would give much different accounts of life and technology. In addition, different time periods in the same place will provide different accounts of life. Just look at the changes in our culture during the course of the twentieth century and into the twenty-first!

It’s difficult to imagine something we’ve never seen, and many details about these ancient cultures seem outright fanciful. On the other hand, there are often no words to describe something we can’t conceptualize. For example, how would someone from the 1800s describe titanium? (Probably as an unknown metal.) How would those same people describe a laser beam? (Perhaps as an energy ray.) The bottom line is that we can’t adequately describe what’s outside our own frame of reference. It’s possible that the distant past and the far future are both shrouded in the Record and difficult to retrieve.

However, if you’re fascinated with the subject, you may have come from one of these ancient times. Do you have dreams of living in stone cities with massive crystals? Do you feel a connection to deeper spiritual knowledge that you believe we’re on the verge of understanding? Do you have images of inventions you feel compelled to make? You may have lived in one of these lost lands and have your own contribution to make toward solving the challenges we’re encountering today.

Ancient Monuments and Societies

Ancient civilizations have always held a fascination and mystery for us. The huge monuments left behind seem incongruous with the primitive societies we imagine lived there. The technology used to move massive stones and the precision of their alignments boggle our minds. Not surprisingly, the Akashic Record has light to shed.

The Edgar Cayce readings reveal that records of the lost civilization of Atlantis are hidden in, or beneath, the monuments of the Egyptians, Mayans, and in underwater temples at Bimini. He predicts that technology will eventually uncover them, at which point many of the mysteries of the planet’s history will be explained.

According to Cayce, the hidden records document the various destructions of Atlantis and the exodus of its people to other lands. The records supposedly describe the building of the great pyramids as well. Cayce claims that due to the importance of this information to current times, spiritual beings are in line to assist with finding and opening these records. There are many readers in addition to Cayce who predict spiritual help through the paradigm shift underway.

Egyptian Pyramids

The Pyramids of Giza have the power to awe and inspire the millions of people who visit them each year. They’re extraordinary in their precision and magnitude. There are more than 2.3 million stones that make up the Great Pyramid, some of them weighing many tons. Theories on how they were built are controversial.

Conventional wisdom holds that the pyramids were constructed using ramps, a mix of skilled workers and slave labor, and various combinations of boats, oiled animal skins, leveraging equipment, and planks. Many feel the theories don’t match the evidence and are not adequate explanations for the mystery. Egyptologists believe the Great Pyramid was built as a tomb for King Khufu around 2,600 B.C.E.

Edgar Cayce readings place the date of the building of the Great Pyramid at 12,000 years ago and the builders as the emigrants from Atlantis. He claims the pyramids are not tombs but advanced harmonic structures that help align consciousness with spiritual realms. The Akashic Record readings describe how the pyramids were built using Atlantean technology: “By the use of those forces in nature as make for iron to swim. Stone floats in the air in the same manner.” Although this reading makes no sense to our science of today, some researchers such as Professor James Hurtak, author of The Book of Wisdom: Keys of Enoch, believe that sound was used to levitate the stones and place them in position.

Egyptian Sphinx

More perplexing than the Pyramids of Giza is the giant Sphinx that sits gazing over the Egyptian plains. The Sphinx is believed by archeologists to be contemporary with the Great Pyramid, therefore 2,600 years old; however, research indicates it’s actually much older. An inventory stele from 678–525 B.C.E. tells the story of how King Khufu discovered the Sphinx already buried in the sand.

A stele is an upright stone slab monument inscribed with historical or commemorative information.

Cayce also places the building of the Sphinx with that of the Great Pyramid, but places them both 12,000 years ago. He claims the Sphinx guards a Hall of Records from Atlantis (not to be confused with the Akashic Record) in a room under its right paw. He claims this is where we will find the physical documents of the history of the earth.

Expeditions led by researcher and author John Anthony West in 1991 and 1993 reveal two important breaks with modern Egyptologists. Studying the weathering and water patterns of the Sphinx, his team determined the age of the Sphinx to be the same as Cayce claimed, about 12,000 years old. Seismic surveys of the ground around the Sphinx uncovered a series of tunnels and caverns in the bedrock, including a chamber 25 feet beneath the right paw. Unfortunately, the Egyptian government is not approving further study and excavation, so the mystery remains intact.

Mayans

The ancient Mayans are even more enigmatic than their Egyptian counterparts. Also revealed by Cayce as an offspring of Atlantean emigration, their culture and legends reflect their Atlantean influence.

The Mayan culture is thought to have started on the Yucatan Peninsula 10,000 years ago. Much like the Egyptians, the Mayans were master historians. They kept meticulous records in scrolls called codices. The majority of scrolls were destroyed in the 1500s by the invading Spanish; however, five codices survived. In them was a reference to the astonishing origin of the Mayas.

The Mayan codices say that their ancestors came from the stars, some say the Pleiades, to live on a continent called Atzlan. Atzlan was destroyed by a flood, and the survivors fled in boats to the Yucatan. The description of the destruction of Atzlan and the emigration to the Yucatan is depicted in carvings on temple walls as well as in the codices. This is a remarkable confirmation of Cayce’s readings taken in 1933 prior to the discovery of the Mayan ruins.

The Mayans were a truly remarkable culture. They created the world’s most accurate calendar, even to this day. Their astronomical and mathematical understanding and abilities exceeded anything seen before. Without the advanced technology of computers and telescopes, they knew more about the planets, galaxy, and universe than we did until Edwin Hubble and the advent of the Hubble telescope. Their advanced knowledge of the galaxy seems to support their belief of having come from the stars.

Additional Mysteries

There are many magnificent and mysterious places on Earth. Easter Island is one of them. The island is part of the Ring of Fire, or volcanic ring, in the southeastern Pacific Ocean. It’s made from volcanic rock, and what makes it mysterious is not just the remote barrenness. It’s the massive head statues that stand as sentinels facing the sea. Explanations of how they came to be are unconvincing. An Akashic Record reading by Douglas Cottrell reveals that the island was inhabited by the Lemurians who had escaped the destruction of their land. He claims the monuments were built in respect to those who had died.

Another of the ancient mysteries are the Lines of Nazca. The Nazca lines are located in the Nazca Desert, a high plateau in Peru. The lines are believed to have been constructed around 2,200 years ago. When viewed from high above, the Lines of Nazca reveal themselves to be hundreds of individual images. Some are geometric forms; others are stylized human and animal figures such as hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish, and lizards. The largest is more than 660 feet. Conventional thought is that they have religious significance. Douglas Cottrell readings from the Akashic Record indicate the lines are a star map, measuring time through the passing of the constellations across different designs.

Spiritual Beings in the Record

Every religion, spiritual teaching, and culture in all time periods makes reference to spiritual beings. Their presence is established in the Akashic Record as well. Called angels, guides, guardians, totems, wayebs, and ascended masters, their place in our history is incontrovertible.

Many people experience interactions with spiritual beings. At pivotal times in people’s lives, they often feel the presence of spiritual help. During mass tragedies, large numbers of people witness sightings of angels or other helpers. People who have had near-death experiences report interactions with spiritual beings while being dead. The Akashic Record itself is protected and maintained by the Guardians of the Record, or Record Keepers. You probably have your own personal story that confirms the presence of spiritual guidance and protection and are not surprised that the Akashic Record speaks of these beings as well.

According to Akashic Record readings, there are many levels of existence beyond the purely physical one we inhabit. These other realms co-exist with us in the universe and are involved in the direction and evolution of the Record. We are intricately linked together, and our progress is important to these beings both through purely altruistic love and because what we do affects the rest of the universe, in all dimensions.

There are many different types of spiritual beings that essentially can be described in four main groups: angels and guardians, guides, ascended masters, and demons. We would be remiss to talk about spiritual beings and not acknowledge the presence of evil spirits, or demons. As with angels, they exist in all cultures and teachings. However, the Akashic Record puts a slightly different slant on their purpose than you might otherwise think.

Angels, Archangels, and Guardian Angels

Angels are often described as beings of light. Like all spiritual beings, they inhabit the same world we do but vibrate at a much higher level, inhabiting a higher-frequency dimension. Although they are here with us, we usually can’t see them without raising our level of consciousness. It’s said that spiritual beings can slow their own rate of vibration in order to interact with us if they choose. Angels work directly with people and all other sentient beings on the planet as well. Its said that angels can incarnate if necessary and do so when extreme conditions on Earth call for higher levels of help. Archangels are higher-frequency beings than the angels and oversee angelic affairs. Although they work with humans, they don’t incarnate.

Each of us is said to have a guardian angel that works directly with us to protect our path and purpose. Although the soul can never be actually harmed, it can be impeded in its progress.

Angels speak to us in “streams of light” that connect to our thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Pay attention to recurring thoughts or thoughts that seem to arrive from nowhere and significantly change your direction. Notice sudden strong feelings or inclinations and listen to them. Observe your emotions and how they draw you to or away from people and situations. All of these are tools your guardian angels use to protect you.

Guides

Guides come in many forms depending on your culture or beliefs. Your guide may be an angel, an animal totem, an ascended master, or even a loved one who has passed away and made a commitment to your growth and well-being. You may have more than one guide, and they may work together as a team. For example, a man named James worked with a Native American guide who was himself guided by both a wolf and an owl totem. Working as a team, they provided James with spiritual guidance. He reported seeing them individually and together in lucid dreams, visions, and meditations.

Our guides, like our guardian angels, are always sending guidance to us. You’re probably more connected to your guides than you realize. Flashes of insight, sudden revelations, lucid dreams, and gut instinct are all ways in which your guides interact. You can connect with them in the same simple ways described for your guardian angels.

You may want to consider keeping a journal and writing down your thoughts and inspirations. Keep a log of your dreams and notice repeating patterns. Once you set in motion a mechanism to pay attention to your guide, you can be sure your guides will start using it to speak with you on a regular basis.

Ascended Masters

Ascended masters are former humans that have transcended their karma. They work on the etheric plane to guide the evolution of humanity, and because they are former humans, they have a strong commitment and connection to us. They choose to incarnate as a service to humanity, bringing new directions and paradigm-shifting concepts to Earth. The following people are said to be ascended masters: St. Germain, Buddha, Melchizedek, and Jesus, to name a few.

According to the Akashic Record, there are many ascended masters on the planet to help as we shift into the new paradigm. They are here to help humanity reach for greater spiritual expression and connection. Akashic Record readings assert that humans originally descended from beings of light and that we already know spiritual truth. Our job is to reconnect with this knowledge and bring it into expression.

Demons

Demons are equal to angels in their mention in all spiritual traditions and holy books. Often thought of as evil spirits who seek to lead humanity astray and destroy humankind, the Akashic Record sheds new light. According to the Record, demons are beings whose mission is to test humans. When people begin a rise in stature and influence, especially in spiritual realms, they need to undergo testing. This is described as similar to metals being tempered in the fires to rid them of impurities. Demons attach to the undeveloped parts of the psyche and bring these parts of self into awareness for healing. Rather than being evil, they are a necessary part of growth.

Overcoming demonic influence requires aligning to the light within and strengthening your commitment and connection to your spiritual wisdom. It requires healing the undeveloped places inside that leave you open to being manipulated and undermined in your spiritual pursuits. If you feel you are being harassed by a demon, look at the areas within yourself that are being challenged. Write them down. Then thank the entity for the awareness you have gained and declare the demon’s mission complete. Align yourself to your spiritual ideal, and ask what you need to do to heal.

Myths and Elemental Beings

Persistent cultural myths revolve around more than angels and demons. Fairies, gnomes, and elves all have their place in the Record as well. Considered fanciful imaginings by modern man, these entities had the ability to influence individuals and communities throughout history. If they are purely imagination, why did so many different cultures with no communication between them develop the same images and story types?

Consciousness researcher Graham Hancock, author of Supernatural (2005), believes these myths are evidence that we are not alone in the universe. According to Rudolph Steiner, one of the early readers of the Akashic Record, fairies, elves, and gnomes are elemental spirits from the nature kingdom. They are also called devas, a Hindu word for celestial being. While humans are represented in the spiritual world through their soul-body, or astral body, the plant and mineral kingdom is represented by devas, or their spiritual essence. Like angels and guides, devas inhabit the same space as humans but vibrate at different levels of frequency.

Modern-day communities such as Findhorn in Scotland (www.findhorn.org) and Perelandra in Virginia (www.perelandra.com) have developed massive gardens using guidance from the devic realms to produce energy-enhanced food. They boast cabbages that grow to 40 or more pounds and other gardening feats. In addition to growing food, healing flower essences are extracted from the plants grown in these gardens.
