Acknowledgment

We would like to thank the people who have contributed to our ideas on this topic. To all our colleagues and clients on projects. But especially to John Niland and Andy Bray. John suggested to Stuart, over a lunch at St Pancras International Rail Station, that he should start a book. Andy Bray who has been making a living for 15 years managing composite projects and as guest lecturer on one of the author’s MSc programs patiently discusses these issues with his students each year.

We are profoundly grateful to the small team who volunteered to critique, challenge, and try to understand the book. A big thanks to Mike Churchman, John Eary, Alex Coaton, Hannah Rogers, and Fiona Copeland.

Finally, we want to acknowledge the support of our families, particularly our wives, Fiona and Sally, for their encouragement and tolerance.
It turns out writing a book is hard and takes a lot of time.
