umbrella so it was not easy for them to explore new markets. But today, they do not have to
work under a specific umbrella. ey can look for new markets where their components can be
used. us, market dynamism is emerging.
As this emerging industry framework is customer-centric, the best benefit goes to cus-
tomers. ey can expect a wide variety of products and these expectations are easily satisfied.
Sharing Economy reflects the fact that customers are now looking at products and ser-
vices from many different angles. If they look at products or service from another angle, they
offer another value. So, value is not unique anymore. Value varies with situations and with ex-
pectations. at is why Sharing Economy is now getting such wide attention. It symbolizes the
transition from a traditional open-loop, one-way industrial framework to the closed-loop in-
dustrial framework with deep consideration of customer expectations. e emerging industry
framework is nothing other than neural network or parallel distributed processing.
So, we can make full use of AI. Although the current AI is still working in the framework
of complete information, there are many issues that can be processed even by the current AI.
Further, such a new industry framework is expected to stimulate AI to accommodate our real
world of incomplete information.
13.3 DEEPER AND DEEPER TO WIDER AND WIDER
Our traditional engineering is to stay on the same track and to make efforts to go further ahead.
But in this new engineering, we stop whenever necessary and look around to find out if there are
better choices. e mechanism of backtracking is what we should do in our decision making.
Or, it is the way of developing adaptive strategy (Fig. 13.3). In other words, engineering has
changed from deeper and deeper to wider and wider.
