Expanded baggage-handling services

As is common in many IIoT initiatives, new business capabilities enabled by these architectures lead to consideration of new business offerings. For example, when connected bags can be tracked end to end using GPS-like capabilities, services can be expanded to customers in areas such as door-to-door pickup or delivery. Airline passengers are often willing to pay an additional fee for bag pick-up or drop-off at their home, hotel, office, or other convenient location. This can also save travelers time in that they avoid waiting in bag drop-off lines and pickups. This creates an additional revenue source for airlines.
