Part 5: Connecting to and Consuming Azure and Third-Party Services

This part begins with introducing the API Management (APIM) services and their advantages and limitations. You will be able to provision services and connect internal web APIs. You will learn how to build advanced policies to cash, throttle, and mock the backend response. Then, you will learn how APIM can help scale and protect modern web applications.

Then, event-driven solutions will be introduced. You will learn how to provision, get connected, and communicate with Event Grid, Event Hubs, and IoT Hub services in Azure. This part will help you understand the advantages and limitations of the event-based solutions to choose the best one according to your requirements.

You will discover the implementation of messaging solutions in Azure based on Service Bus queues and Storage queues. You will learn how to provision, get connected, and communicate with messaging services in Azure. You will also learn the advantages and limitations of the services and learn how to describe the scenarios where they should be used.

Before moving to the final part of the book containing the mock exam, we cover a few of the fundamentals of DevOps, providing some clarity around what it is and some DevOps practices implemented within successful teams. As well as providing some food for thought, this provides insight into some of the topics you may encounter should you want to start studying for the AZ-400: Designing and Implementing Microsoft DevOps Solutions exam after passing the AZ-204 (which we’re sure you will!).

This part covers 15-20% of the AZ-204 exam.
