Refer to Figure 28-1 on page 781. Unlike the SM that is limited to managing the devices within its own subnet, a GSM can manage devices in multiple subnets. In other words, a GMP may specify a destination port in another subnet via the GRH:DGID address field. Furthermore, a GSA within a device can send an event notification [i.e., a Trap(Notice)] to one of its GSMs residing in a different subnet.
The first six dwords (i.e., dwords 0 through 5) of all GMP types adhere to the template shown in Table 28-1 on page 783. The usage of dwords 6 through 63 is defined by the type of GMP. For a detailed description of the different GMP formats, refer to:
