Create a Cross-Processing Effect?

image

If you want the look that everybody’s putting on fashion images these days, you can do it easily by applying Camera Raw as a filter (no plug-ins required). Here’s how it’s done: Open the image you want to use, then go under the Filter menu and choose Camera Raw Filter. When the window appears, click on the Split Toning icon (the fifth one from the left) beneath the histogram, to bring up the Split Toning panel. Now, set the Highlights Hue to 70, the Highlights Saturation to 25, the Shadows Hue to 200, and the Shadows Saturation to 25. That’s it—you’re in business. Okay, that’s only one cross-processing look (there are a bunch of them), but that’s one of the most popular. To try other looks, just change the Hue settings for the Highlights and Shadows (leave the Saturation amounts where they are). Here are a couple more to try: Set the Highlights Hue to 55, and the Shadows Hue to165. Or, set the Highlights Hue to 70, and the Shadows Hue to 220. One more: set the Highlights Hue to 80, the Shadows Hue to 235, and then set both Saturation amounts to 35.
