Part 3. Advanced topics

In the first part of the book we looked into the core OSGi framework specification and explained its most important features and capabilities. In the second part of the book, we turned to the pragmatic issues of developing OSGi-based applications. In this third and final part of the book, we’ll explore a variety of advanced topics. To help you simplify OSGi development, we’ll introduce OSGi-based component frameworks. These component frameworks should be interesting for all OSGi developers. We’ll also look into launching and embedding the OSGi framework, enabling security in OSGi-based applications, and developing web and distributed applications in OSGi. After completing this final part of the book, you should have a good idea of all the possibilities that OSGi technology provides.
