In the next chapter (on layers), you’ll see that you can have stuff extend right off the screen, so you can’t see it, but since it’s part of a layer it’s still there (you can just click-and-drag it back onscreen. If you’re new to layers, this will make a whole lot more sense once you read the layers chapter). To crop away any of that excess stuff that you don’t need anymore, just do this: First press Command-A (PC: Ctrl-A) to select your entire image area (just what you see onscreen right now). Then, go under the Image menu and choose Crop. That crops away any leftover stuff outside the image area.
