Troubleshoot Photoshop Problems?

image

If Photoshop seems like it’s not acting right, or something just isn’t working the way you know it should, your Photoshop Preferences file has probably become corrupt. Don’t feel bad, though, it’s not you. This is a fairly common thing that happens, and luckily, replacing these preferences will usually fix about 99% of the problems you might run into. Here’s how to do it: Quit Photoshop, then press-and-hold Command-Option-Shift (PC: Ctrl-Alt-Shift) and restart Photoshop. Keep holding down those keys while Photoshop relaunches, and a dialog will pop up onscreen asking if you want to “Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings File?” Click Yes, and Photoshop builds a brand-new, factory-fresh set of preferences, and that usually fixes whatever Photoshop problems you were having. If for some reason that doesn’t work, the next thing you’ll need to do (and I hate to tell you this one) is to uninstall and then reinstall Photoshop from scratch. Luckily, with Creative Cloud this is really a pretty easy thing to do. Just run the Uninstall Adobe Photoshop CC application that came with Photoshop CC when you installed it, and that will take care of getting rid of the old copy. Then, go to the Adobe Creative Cloud app, install a fresh new version of Photoshop, and whatever the problem was, chances are it’s gone now.
