If you’ve applied a filter (like Gaussian Blur or Unsharp Mask), or maybe even an adjustment (like Levels or Curves), and you think your changes were too intense, you can back those off using the Fade feature. The Fade feature is kind of like undo on a slider. To use it, immediately after you apply a filter or adjustment, go under the Edit menu and choose Fade. You’ll actually see the name of what you just did appear right after the word Fade in the menu, so if you applied Unsharp Mask, it will read “Fade Unsharp Mask” (as seen above left). Dragging the Opacity slider to the left, in the resulting Fade dialog, lowers the intensity of the filter or adjustment you just applied. Note: This Fade feature only works immediately after you apply a filter or adjustment. So, if you decide you want to use it, go use it immediately because if you do even one more thing beforehand—click anywhere or do anything else—the Fade option goes away and it’ll be grayed out.
