4.4. LAWRENCE LESSIG'S 2002 FREE CULTURE PRESENTATION

Lessig's slide usage was (and is) revolutionary: visually stunning, concise, and laser-targeted. The slide method he perfected has since become known as the "Lessig Method." His synergistic interaction with the projector, and the slide decks it displays, is reminiscent of a 2010 Ph.D. graduate and his parents: inseparable and destined to be together forever.

Lessig doesn't believe because he speaks; he speaks because he believes. He wants you to buy open-source culture, take it home, treasure it for decades, and then pass it on to your children. Although he provides logic, he ultimately sidesteps the brain and goes straight for the heart. The emotional connection is formed early and is repeatedly reinforced throughout the duration of the performance. Few speakers demonstrate such infectious belief; even fewer transmit it to the audience.
