Summary

This chapter has covered some of the basics behind using IP unnumbered and VLSM. The use of these functions with routing protocols that don't support them, such as RIP V1 and IGRP, can have varying implications—from using the wrong route to forward packets to total connectivity loss.

The next chapter discusses default routing (how hosts and routers route packets off of their local subnet) and some of the complexities surrounding this issue. It provides scenarios based on working and improper configurations.
