Using the nRF24L01 transceiver module

The nRF24L01 RF transceiver is manufactured by Nordic semiconductor. It is a full feature radio frequency transceiver that has very low power consumption rating. For detailed specifications, you can visit the nRF24L01 product website hosted by Nordic Semiconductor. Some of the common devices that can be built are: wireless PC peripherals (mouse, keyboards, and headsets), remote controls for consumer electronic gadgets, and so on. However, it is not recommended for life support equipment development:

Figure 2: nRF24L01 pinout

The nRF24L01 transceiver module has eight pins available for connecting with external microcontroller devices. The chip itself is centrally located on the board shown as shown in the preceding figure. The eight pins are shown in the preceding pinout diagram. Additionally, there is an onboard voltage regulator to make the module tolerant to 5V input. Also notice the onboard antenna on the right-hand side. Some nRF24L01 boards come with the provision to attach an external antenna for increasing the range of the RF signals.
