talk — stdin stdout - file -- opt --help --version
talk [user
[@host
]] [tty
]
The talk
program predates
modern instant messaging by a few decades: it connects two users,
logged in on the same or different hosts, for one-to-one
communication. It runs in a shell window, splitting it horizontally,
so you can see your own typing and that of your partner.
$ talk [email protected]
If your partner is logged in multiple times, you can specify
one of his ttys for the talk
connection.
