xmms [options] [files or URLs]

Linux has numerous audio file players, including amarok, audacious, rhythmbox, and more. We’ll cover amarok, but your system probably has several of these programs installed.

The easiest way to get started with amarok is to try it, either with no arguments:

$ amarok

or providing audio files or URLs on the command line:

$ amarok file1.mp3 file2.wav file3.ogg ...
$ amarok http://www.example.com/song.mp3

Useful options

--pause

Pause the current track.

--play

Begin playing.

--stop

Stop playing.

--previous

Play the previous track.

--next

Play the next track.
