About the Author

DION LIM is an Emmy Award–winning TV news anchor and reporter at ABC in San Francisco. She has traveled the country covering everything from devastating wildfires to celebrities on the red carpet at the Oscars, and the landmark Brett Kavanaugh hearing in Washington, DC to the Warriors champagne locker room celebration at the NBA championships.

Dion has been featured in publications ranging from Glamour to The Daily Mail and her writing has appeared online for the Huffington Post and in Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls. A sought-
after speaker known for her candor and engaging style, Dion has hosted and emceed events alongside Hollywood A-Listers like Patrick Dempsey to tech-titan Guy Kawasaki and news legend Dan Rather. Dion is also heavily involved in workshops and keynoting for professional development groups, including the Asian American Journalists Association and Ascend Leadership, which is the largest nonprofit Pan-Asian organization for professionals in North America. She was recently named the Bay Area’s Champion of the Year for the nonprofit Best Buddies, for her involvement in championing the cause of inclusivity for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Prior to being in the Bay Area, Dion worked every shift imaginable, climbing the competitive TV news ladder. She spent time as a reporter and worked the morning, afternoon, early evening, and primary anchor positions in Massachusetts, Kansas City, Charlotte, and Tampa Bay. While Dion doesn’t believe success is measured only in awards, she is proud to say she has been named by various publications as “Best Morning News Anchor” and “Best TV Personality.”

Dion’s love of storytelling started at a young age. The daughter of Chinese immigrants who, instead of watching cartoons, encouraged her to learn “proper English” by watching TV news anchors. When she realized her parents’ desired destiny for her to become a doctor, lawyer, or scientist wouldn’t pan out due to her stunningly mediocre test scores and GPA, she begged the high school journalism teacher to accept her into senior-level television classes, where she could talk and write (instead of do math) and the rest is history.

She and her husband, a professional poker player, live in San Francisco and share a love of travel, discovering great food, and Dachshunds. You can keep up with Dion on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter @DionLimTV and at www.dionlim.com.
