ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Michael D. Watkins, PhD, is the world’s foremost expert on accelerating leadership transitions. He is the author of the international bestseller The First 90 Days: Proven Strategies for Getting Up to Speed Faster and Smarter, which has become the classic reference for leaders in transition and received the 100 Leadership and Success Books to Read in a Lifetime accolade from Amazon in 2016.

Watkins is the cofounder of Genesis, a leadership development consultancy based in Boston, Massachusetts, that provides transition acceleration and enterprise onboarding solutions for leaders, teams, and organizations. At Genesis, he specializes in coaching CEOs of global organizations. He is also a professor at the IMD business school in Lausanne, Switzerland. Prior to joining IMD he was a member of the faculty of INSEAD, Harvard Business School, and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.

Watkins is the author or coauthor of five books and numerous articles on leadership and transitions, including “Picking the Right Transition Strategy,” “How Managers Become Leaders,” “Onboarding Isn’t Enough,” and “Too Many Projects,” all of which appeared in Harvard Business Review.
