Workshop

This workshop is designed to help you anticipate possible questions, review what you’ve learned, and begin thinking ahead to putting your knowledge into practice. The answers to the quiz that follows can be found in Appendix A, “Quiz Answers.”

Quiz

1.Name three items that a user master record contains.
2.What is the name of the profile that gives you authorization access to everything in the SAP system?
3.What is the name of the SAP tool that helps administrators create user profiles based on standards?
4.What does the acronym CCMS stand for?
5.What is the menu path to reach the SAP Servers System Monitoring Screen?
6.Define an SAP instance.
7.Where are user authorizations stored in your SAP system?
8.List additional CCMS transactions useful in monitoring SAP.

Exercises

1.Take a look at your own user profile by following the menu path Tools, Administration, User Maintenance, Users, and typing your user name, and then selecting the Display (glasses) button from the application toolbar. Then execute a transaction for which you are not authorized (most users are unable to execute CCMS transactions like SM51, and most SAP technologists are unable to execute application transactions like FD32 or VA01, for example). Finally, execute transaction /nSU53. This enables you to view the authorization(s) that you are missing—the authorization(s) you need to be able to complete the transaction you just executed unsuccessfully.
2.As described previously in this hour, execute and review transactions /nST06, /nST03N, /nSSAA, /nSMLG, /nAL08, /nST07, /nSM66, and /nST22.
3.Navigate to the SAP System Log (/nSM21) to view the important and not-so-important events that are occurring both real-time and historically in your SAP system.
