The workshop is designed to help you anticipate possible questions, review what you’ve learned, and begin thinking ahead to putting your knowledge into practice. The answers to the quiz that follows can be found in Appendix A, “Quiz Answers.”

Exercises

1.Look in your workplace or home for paper-based database examples like the phonebooks discussed previously.
2.In a Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet, observe how a database (workbook) complete with fields (columns), records (rows of data), and even tables (different worksheets) can be created. Consider how this structure is applied in a true RDBMS.
3.Go to http://help.sap.com, click on the Search Documentation link, and then search on the phrase “supported databases.” Note the variety of database releases supported by SAP AG for different products and components.
4.If you have access to a SAP system, and authority to do so, execute transaction /nDB02. Note how much space is consumed by data, and how much by indexes. Is it close to a 50-50 ratio?
