PETER BARNES
Peter stepped forward early in Heartland’s story as an investor, counselor, and cheerleader. His generosity in hosting Craig at the Mesa Refuge, a writers’ retreat center, was the genesis of this book. He is a cofounder of On the Commons / Common Assets; the originator of the Sky Trust idea; an author; and an expert on the economics of natural resource commons.

We first met Richard while he was at the World Bank. He was an early board member and confidant in the development of Heartland and then AoC. His work on systemic culture change is being honored by governments and large economic systems on a global level.

Eric Utne is an entrepreneur, publisher, and educator. In 1984, he founded Utne Reader, for which he currently writes a back-page column.
