If a solution to a similar problem is known, that solution can be used as a starting point. It can be customized to solve the problem we were looking for. The concept of Transfer Learning (TL) in machine learning is based on this principle. The idea is to use the inference of already pre-trained models as the starting point for training the algorithm.
