Appendix IV Homemade Planisphere

You can make your own planisphere by following these simple instructions. First, print out Figures A.IV.1 and A.IV.2. You may wish to glue them onto a stiff piece of paper or thin cardboard. Next, cut along the dashed lines in both figures. You should now have two pieces—a circular piece, the Star Wheel, that has all the stars and months marked along the edge, and a second piece, the Star Holder, with a hole in its middle. Fold the Star Holder figure along the dotted line. You may wish to tape or staple the edges together. Place the Star Wheel within the folded pocket and voila! Your homemade planisphere is complete.
