Dorin O. Neacsu, PhD (IEEE M’95, SM’00) received MS and PhD degrees in electronics from the Technical University of Iasi, Iasi, Romania, in 1988 and 1994, respectively. Dr. Neacsu also holds an MSc degree in engineering management from the prestigious Gordon Institute of Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts, USA.

Dr. Neacsu spent his mandatory industrial probation with TAGCM-SUT Iasi, Romania from 1988 to 1990, and was an associate professor in the Department of Electronics, at the Technical University of Iasi, between 1990 and 1999. During this time, he held visiting positions at Universite du Quebec a Trois Rivieres, Canada, and General Motors/Delphi, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Dr. Neacsu held different positions (consultant, engineer, product manager) within US industry from August 1999 to June 2006, at International Rectifier, SatCon Technology, and Azure Dynamics/Solectria. This led to innovative work in advanced gate drivers, isochronous hot-swap paralleling of three-phase power converters, and interleaved power converters. After August 2006, Dr. Neacsu held visiting or temporary appointments at diverse US academic institutions including the University of New Orleans, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the United Technologies Research Center. Dr. Neacsu is currently an associate professor at the Technical University of Iasi, Romania.

Dr. Neacsu has published more than 80 papers and research notes in IEEE transactions, conferences, and other international journals, on all continents, and has presented seven tutorials at IEEE conferences. He holds three US patents and has co-written several university textbooks in Canada and Romania, and a book on simulation modeling of power converters. Dr. Neacsu is a senior member of the IEEE, has served as a reviewer for several IEEE transactions, and has been a member of the technical program committees or organizing committees at various IEEE conferences. His research activities are in static power converters, power semiconductor devices, PWM algorithms, microprocessor control, and modeling and simulation of power converters.
